Ben Franklin inventing it was a misconception, so was the idea some bug collector in New Zealand created it. As for farmers...they work from before sunrise to after sunset every day. Time doesn6matter to animals and crops.
Really, I don't get the concept. The summer season already has the longest days. Why do they need to be longer? If anything, do it the other way around and get more daylight for the short winter days.
