Yes, the far left is starting to look fascist. Calling for restrictions on free speech, using violence to censor dissenting opinions, banning people from social media based on political views, constant leftwing propaganda from the mainstream news, calling for complete disarming of citizens, ranking people by immutable characteristics. Yup, seen this before, don't like it.

The point is, I don't want the government or anybody else trying to take my means of self-defense, censor my speech, or telling me what kind of transportation I can use. If you allow anyone to strip you of your rights, it never ends well. Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it.

No one wants to force you to use trains. Also, riding the train to your destination isn't like being forced to a death camp.

Trains have a poor reputation in the US for several reasons:

1) Political apathy: Amtrak's funding isn't enough to help Amtrak.

2) The engineering and function of American trains: they're very loud and noisy compared to trains in other countries. This falls in line with the 1st reason because Amtrak can't upgrade their fleet to have quieter trains. Also, the majority of railway lines in the US are used for freight trains.

3) Poor reliability: Amtrak's trains are late most of the time, especially in the west and the south (In the northeast, it's better due to Amtrak's ownership of the tracks). This falls in line with reasons 1 and 2 because Amtrak doesn't have money to purchase trackage rights, and has to share tracks owned by companies that operate freight trains. Guess which train gets priorities on the tracks.

4) The media: You hear about train crashes a lot in the US because they're actually quite rare compared to car crashes. Because car crashes are so common, they don't get reported in news to the same degree of train or plane crashes. As a result, those who take the media as fact will trust the car more than the train.

While it's true that trains were used in transporting the Jews to camps back in WWII, trains were also used during the civil war to powerful extent to help the Union states. I'd consider looking into that before comparing train riders to victims.

If you want to disagree with his suggestion using trains is equivalent to Next stop: Death Camps, fine. Defending the train idea makes you look desperate.

The OP is referencing the Green New Deal, championed by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, in which the substitution of high speed trains for air travel to reduce carbon emissions is one recommendation. I have seen your posts, and while I do not know you, I find it hard to believe that you have not aware of this and/or not intelligent enough to put it together yourself.

Yes, I know that the GND includes building high-speed rail network over America. However, I've been advocating for that before the AOC's GND was even a thing.
