He is definitely feeding into the far right with comments like that but enoch has a point. EVERYONE has a good reason to be angry with the way things are in America today. We just differ on who and where the problem is. There is a tendency on the right to look at those beneath us. That can't be denied and Trump has pushed that hate. There is a tendency to blame those above us on the left.

I happen to believe a strong progressive tax is NOT socialism. It's the American way and during the strongest growth periods of the middle class, mid 1950's to late 60's, we had a progressive tax rate that maxed out at above 90% tax on income above 200k.

Most did not pay it and I'm not saying we need that kind of tax today. But, policy like that changes the narrative. Back then the American narrative was that you had upward mobility in America. That the little guy had a helping hand to lift them up and that we all worked together. Today, this is called socialism and radical ideology.

politics in America has become a cult of spectacle,a rapacious gluttony for titillation and drama,whilst ignoring the very serious issues we need to face as a nation.

this did not happen overnight.
trump is not the problem,he is the symptom of a much deeper schism within our republic.

our republic is very very ill.

and trump is a vulgar,bombastic,crude circus show barker.

so to many,those who still support trump may appear to be counter intuitive.
but it really isn't.

the people who still support trump are not this one dimensional construct.
they all have their reasons,and while there are a fairly concerning amount who believe every word trumps says as gospel,and practically worship the man in some weird messianic sense.

but for the most part,trump supporters want the same thing you want:
liberty,equality and justice.

because critical examination on why people still support trump would take effort,and force you to leave your own bubble of bias and actually engage with a trump supporters.

people have their own reasons why they support someone,and just because you may disagree does not equate understanding.

we can disagree with someone,but when we don't even try to understand,the only thing left is assumption based on our own prejudices.

I've had Many many many conversations with people who support trump. None of the reasons I've heard from trump supporters has made any sense to me. so, yes, I've tried. I've NEVER EVER seen a trump supporter change their mind. I've never seen a trump hater, change their mind. PROVE ME WRONG.
