Only 30% of Americans own guns, so your 320 million figure must be for the total number of guns in civilian hands. It seems a country born out of violence, cannot wean itself off said violence. It is willing to accept dead kids on a regular basis, to maintain the ability to have a violent response to any situation. It is the only developed country that is willing to make that bargain. In civilized countries so many dead kids are unacceptable and action would be taken. (Indeed it was in the UK and Australia if you care to check)
