In the "Declaration of Unity" it's pretty clear that there's a physical aspect to the warfare: "I will support and defend the Word of God and His army...even unto supreme sacrifice." Since there's no such thing as supreme sacrifice in the spiritual realm if you have salvation, what could this mean? When coupled with the copious amounts of military imagery, this is plenty scary.
And there is nothing that makes me more skeptical than someone whose interactions with his followers include direct quotes from the "Spirit of God". That's the kind of thing that ends with either suicide koolaid or genocide, neither of which are really Jesus' thing (not the Jesus I know, anyway). This guy is dangerous, and I pray that you find someone else to follow.
As I don't know Alex Jones personally, I can't speak much to his heart. However, I wouldn't categorize him as a patriot. He's a zealot, for sure, but I don't think he wants a United States. His entire business model relies on division. The more divided we are, the more viewers he can attract.
