Some of us admire her for her courage. We see her not as a demon but as a woman who doesn't want teenage girls impaled on coathangers,dying of peritonitis, & hurling themselves down steps! She wants them to have a chance to finish growing up before they bear children. The chances of death in childbirth, for both mom & baby,are highest with immature adolescent mothers. They typically have poor access to prenatal care, If the mother has more education, her children are more likely to be better fed as higher educational levels often mean better incomes. So,how demonic is Mme. Ruth for her commitment to not forcing girls & women to bear babies they can't adequately support? My parents were hitched in a shotgun teenage marriage by my impending arrival. . Neither of them were ready;Mom was 17,& Dad was 21. They were divorced by the time I was 4. Believe me when I tell you that I know whereof I speak!
