Nathan Philips did not serve in Vietnam, but I believe he did serve in the marines from 1972 to 1976.

And he also got served by a high school kid he tried to intimidate. He was discharged as a "private" and was never part of the elite Marine Recon forces to which he claimed. There's a term for this... STOLEN VALOR.
