American Grafitti is one of my favorite movies. I also appreciate what he went through to get the first Star Wars made. However, when he decided that the special effects were more important than the characters, you can see the quality of the story telling suffer. That's actually the primary reason why Lawrwnce Kasdan stepped away for the prequels
