it's burning oil that's the problem, not its making.

Burning oil isn't a problem, in fact most of it isn't burned. Depending on needs, only 35 to 45% or the oil we use is "burned" for automobile fuel and heating oil. The rest is used as a chemical feedstock for medications, plastics, fertilizers, fibers, water filtration and a multitude of other life improving products- even essential for the extreme conditions lubrication required for wind turbines. Bottom line oil is 100% natural, and since no pesticides were used on the algae it's organic.

I am already old. And the bitter, well, suffice it to say that I don't enjoy it. But I always hoped that mankind was not as stupid and selfish as they appear to be. Better hope you don't run out of this non-renewable resource while you double down on your dependence on it. The Stupid may burn, but that provides no real energy, which is a shame, since it is the most renewable resource on the planet.

Not to worry WCFrancis, you're going to die old and bitter and we'll still be using oil to make life better for everyone. You couldn't post your meme without oil. Look at your device- notice any oil products? Of course not. Oil is natural, Mother Nature made it, it's naturally recycled dead plants and algae, it has made human existence better for over 100 years. Live with it, you already do. If you got rid of all the oil making your life better, you would choke and die of fever. (Petroleum is used to make the life saving drug you need) Take a deep breath, it's cleaner than it was 50 years ago. Thanks to oil and human ingenuity.

That's a good question. It's not accurate, Standard Oil used it to describe their unique products and the name stuck. If you had Sinclair Oil around, they used a dinosaur in their logo which furthered the misconceptions. The first commercial oilfield was drilled in 1859 in Titusville, PA and the first whisper of Peak Oil Theory came into existence about 1861 from a Russian scientist, but was popularized by Hubbert and has been proven a bit wrong, ahem. We probably still call it fossil fuel because it seems less political than calling it Devil's Armpit Juice.

No, still dying at about the same rates, maybe if algae took nutritional supplements and exercised more often........
