The massive hole in all that is "to influence an election". As if a porn star and a playboy bunny are going to have an effect on the election. Even the recent report from the Senate Intelligence Committee is contradicted by the findings that all those Russian posts on instagram and Twitter had zero effect on the election.

The number of politicians that have had their careers ended due to affairs is enumerable. Yes, affairs do impact elections. And the law doesn't stipulate whether or not the thing being hushed up will influence an election, it's when it is done TO influence an election.
