Ranked choice voting system would fix the 2 party stranglehold

I totally agree. But good luck getting it instituted. Neither of the duopoly wants any of that. Jill Stein tried to get it on a state level in Massachusetts and they wouldn't even let it out of committee.

What is that? Where the government gets to decide who can run?

Maine is the first state to go ranked choice voting for state level elections. It gives a 3rd party candidate a realistic chance.

Ranked choice voting gives you the power to rank candidates from your favorite to your least favorite. On Election Night, all the ballots are counted for voters’ first choices. If one candidate receives an outright majority, he or she wins. If no candidate receives a majority, the candidate with the fewest first choices is eliminated and voters who liked that candidate the best have their ballots instantly counted for their second choice. This process repeats and last-place candidates lose until one candidate reaches a majority and wins. Your vote counts for your second choice only if your first choice has been eliminated.

Here is a link. I was wrong about it applying to all statewide elections as it arises it is only used for US house and US senate seats.

Not sure i don't live there.
Australia has had that system for 100 years.

Even if 3rd party candidates don't get elected it results in the 2 major party candidates to move to the center and appeal to a broader swath of voters. Thus less extreme candidates

Welcome, not only to a rigged economy, but a rigged two party system where people are too afraid to vote for anyone else. Sounds like Democracy to me.

Sad but true ! Thing 1 or thing 2 ... both worthless.

2, only 2, any less and it wouldn't be a choice at all.
