Very true! For many years, I was a registered Republican, but resigned in disgust at their inability to keep their promises. I am a conservative, and often times vote for Republicans, but there are many elections where I vote for the Libertarian candidate because the Republican incumbent was ineffective.

It's very hard to pass anything (let alone with budget for the Wall) when Democrats constantly block it

Now I think most of the Democrat ideas are really whacky. But I believe the best quote that I ever read was "Democrats lead, and Republicans hold Office". Even when the Dems are in the minority, they continue to move their liberal ball down the field. Republicans rarely unite to push forward, and favor having divergent and conflicting ideas. The Dems almost always figure out an angle to move their ball down the field, and the Dems largely unite behind that game plan.

So very true. The problem is that liberals are conditioned to following the herd, where conservatives are more independent and question even their own party.

They're good at unifying because their beliefs don't come from a core set of values. They can just all go along with the most convenient message of the day. That, plus their method of silencing their opposition by calling them racist, bigoted, etc. gives the appearance of majority acceptance. Finally, they rarely compromise on their current message and the repblicans give in because they're too afraid of the negatives press from the left leaning media. It's a multi facetted approach that constantly push the country further and further left and establishes a new normal. Even centrists policies 10 years ago would now be considered far right. All of this of course is allowed by the folly of the people.

Speaking of folly, I like to reference a piece by Dietrich Bonhoeffer who was killed by the Nazis:

I agree with you. But there are limits on what can be done solely from the Oval Office without congressional involvement. And the Repubs in Congress are largely un-united, and inept.

He'll probably get the congress back in 2020. I've got a feeling they'll be motivated to work together once that comes around. Incumbents always lose the house at the midterms. He's still got the senate, which is what he wanted and needs for the next chapter in his presidency.

Insofar as getting the congress back in 2020, perhaps you are right. But if the RINOS are still there, we will do no better then than we are doing now. From my perspective, it's as if the Democrats want to bring us over a cliff at 150 mph. And the Republicans think they are doing us a big favor if they go over that same cliff at only 100 mph.

It's hard to have any respect for the Repubs when they controlled 3/4 of the government and didn't get very much done. Now with the Dems controlling the house almost nothing will get done.

I believe that you are correct.
