Obviously, saying he did something, is just an opinion.
Some things that might qualify with "life ruined" :
1. Being disbarred.
2. Spouse dying.
3. Getting divorced.
4. Getting fired as a judge and only being able to work at McDonald's or Walmart.
5. Getting raped.
6. Accident result in double or quadriplegia.
7. Suffering severe brain damage.
8. Going blind or losing hearing.
9. Getting addicted to opioids.
10, Dying.
Spending 25 to 30 years building a law career and facing national public scrutiny after a nomination by a political body to the highest court in the land is what you expect and does not rise to the level of heavy damage to one's reputation.
Clearly, the people who know him, love him, and work with him have held, and still hold him, in very high regard. He did not lose his job. He did not lose his friends. He wasn't convicted. He was raised to the SCOTUS. He wasn't disbarred. His wife and children are still with him. The harassment has stopped. He wasn't raped. He didn't lose his house. He didn't lose his retirement. He didn't get addicted to drugs. People heard accusations against him.
