When we came to the States we used to like to visit an area called Torrey Pines … my Mom used to mispronounce Pines (yes, the worst possible way to mispronounce it). … I had to correct her all the time, until she finally remembered.

When i was a kid back in England, when we stayed at my Gran's, we had to use a "potty", cos they only had an outside toilet and that was no fun in the middle of the night during a snowy winter.

It's still that way many places in Europe and America. Sad but true

Lmao this happened to me in England! I lived there 3 years. With 6 people and one toilet, it can happen!

In our house we had all the "mod cons", but my Gran had no running hot water either.
When we stayed there, it was fill up the pans and kettle once a week for a wash in the old tin bath in the "front room". Tell that to kids of today and they won't believe you!

No they won’t believe it not even my age, but my dad lived in the major country so everyone else had everything but they were poor so no electricity or running water, he took me back to his home he had when he was a young kid, calls it the “old place”. Kind of unreal actually. Log cabin built by hand. Outhouse for sure. Insane.

Oh no that sucks! Not cool to take whatever is happening with herself out on her daughter. My dad did that to me and I got out real quick like lol. We are good now, some people are just very hard to live with! It will motivate your girlfriend to be independent and maybe they’ll have a better relationship later. Teen years are some of the hardest and I think sometimes parents need to remind themselves of that! Tell her keep her chin up, this shit won’t last forever :)
