Standing in my living room in West Virginia having my morning coffee. Later I walked outside to get some air and saw a passenger plane flying low, headed in the general direction of PA, followed by two fighters and an AWACS, apparently from Maryland. That turned out to be Flight 93.

Was in Newark NJ. When the second one hit we jumped in the rental car and headed north back to Canada. For the first half hour we saw emergency vehicles heading south. Then quiet. Then all the rich and famous blew past us in their limos and sport cars doing well over 100 (160 for those from outside the US). And then quiet again. When we got to the border there were cones across the road. As it turned out the Canadian border guards were protesting working conditions that day.

Still trying to figure out the life lessons.from that day.
