Sometimes it seems like democracy is failing the poor. But our poor are probably better off than in other places.

I think they should all get free college or trade school, so there might be less poor people eventually. :-)

Take a few economics classes. Socialism works on paper when you take the human equation out. But if you have a job assigned to you and you won't get fired for doing a bad job and won't get rewarded for doing a good job, how hard are you going to work? Eventually every service and product is crap, nothing works, nobody cares, infrastructure crumbles, etc.

Same as capitalism. It works great on paper until people mess it up with greed.

And even if it did work, that wouldn't mean it's ethical or right, as a system.

PS - I'm also not sure what it was about nottaBot's comment that prompted you to suggest taking economics classes. I didn't really see what was ignorant about the comment.

I think everybody should take economics classes. But then again, I have a degree in economics. =)

Big difference between social programs and socialism. And to that point, would you rely on social security as a retirement income?
