My nearly homeless uncle was able to go back to school and get out of poverty using a program that the Republicans in my state are trying to get rid of.

A lot of wealthy people attribute their success to god and prayer. Look at Chick Fil A, and every boxer ever.

I can attest to that.
I used to work as a manager at a bojangle's restaurant (for anybody that doesn't know, it is a southern US chicken restaurant).
We did like, 60,000 or 70,000 dollars in sales in a week, and we were open on Sunday.
Chick-Fil-A on the other hand, is closed EVERY Sunday, and they literally BLEW US OUT OF THE WATER in sales! They did about $120,000 in sales a week!
Oh, and the restaurant I worked at? Its sales kept us in the 1st, and 2nd places respectively of the entire corporate chain!

You do know Chick Fil A is a Christian restaurant right? They close on Sunday for church and to give thanks to god. There's a lot of positive stuff attributed to prayer.

Typical Octavia. 'It's not church it's the sabbath.' Yeh, ain't nobody cares.

You don't even know what prayer is. More typical Octavia opening your mouth and talking about things you don't understand. Unless you undergo a major life change you probably never will.

30 years from now you're going to be iaonsite.

Old Testament God was one mean dude, but he had to be. The people he was trying to shepherd had to be told not to kill each other because it was wrong. They had to be told not to steal and bang each others wives because it was wrong. They had to be told not to lie because it was wrong. Old Testament God was beating and smiting the evil out of a horrible species. If he didn't see the potential for good, he got rid of what stood in the way of progress.

After a few thousand years his lessons finally got engraved into our DNA and we just sort of understood that killing, stealing, lying, and fornicating was wrong. Gods lesson was 'Quit being assholes'.

Phase two: Jesus. God still wasn't sure about these humans. They new right and wrong, but they kept choosing wrong. He put an ultimatum up. Show me one good man and I'll spare humanity a horrible fate. What's more, he put the soul of his own son inside of a human to give us the best chance possible.

Jesus came and had a new message. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." His mission was to take these people that had learned right and wrong and get them to choose the right thing. In then end, none of them did. Jesus was the only human that did the right thing and died at the hands of the people he was sent to save. God had his one good man and Jesus left a message for us: 'Be good to one another'

I would say there's a phase three that we are living in now and the message is 'Help one another'.

It's understandable for people to dislike Old Testament God. He was tough and nobody enjoys tough love. Jesus was the best man among us. Even if you're not a Christian you should at least be respectful of him. Even if you don't believe in God you can still admire a man that would undergo the torture he went through for what he believed in. I hope you weren't referring to Jesus as trash.

Science: In the beginning there was nothing not even a vacuum because a vacuum is something. Also, 'Nothing' acted strangely(magic) exploded everything in the universe(time space and matter) into ordered existence. Everything exist by virtue of ' mysterious quantum fluctuation ', which was natuaral laws that existed before there was anything to act upon. So, these appearant Laws existed eternally.
The Bible : Genesis 1
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Also in the bible, God is eternal, God is Light, everything exist by virtue of God, everything is sustained by virtue of God.
Science: Partical Wave Theory; All matter is held together by paxkets of light that do not behave like light as it vibrates "in place" forming matter .
Bible: The second thing mentioned in the bible that was created was light, the same energy that science says is the substance of all matter. The bible further states that God is Light and the substance and sustainer of all things in the universe.
Science: Singularity; the expanding universe can be traced back to a single infinitely small, dense, and powerful force that can not be measured by physics.
Bible: 4 things that can not be measure- 1. God's Power 2. God's love 3. God's Grace 4. God's Reward for enduring believers
The bible also goes on to say God himself is immeasurable/unknowable in the quantifiable sense yet knowable in a personal, relational sense.

Haha! You looked up a definition!

Live it, don't read about it. That's the only real way to truly know about anything.

You don't live it and probably never will, so you'll never know.

You're right I can't ever truly know those things without living them.

I can get close to knowing. I dated a vegan for a year and realized that was a bunch of hipster bs.

You're not close to god, not even a little. You don't understand prayer, not even a little.

People are perfectly capable of doing things on their own. Prayer can help provide guidance to those who need it.

The boxer thing was there as a joke. Most like to thank god after a bout.

In Texas there are over 500,000 millionaires. You can bet a pretty big number of them would attribute at least some of their success to prayer.

What is it with you being rude to people on here? You're a f**king douche and an ignorant troll. The guy asked you a question and you act like an ass. If you act like this in person, I can only imagine...

Maybe you should quit being a douche and start talking like an adult. I'm guessing you'll respond to this message rudely, but that's what I've come to expect from you. You definitely don't make the left look any better.

Socialism is a product of those countries wealth, not the cause. Maybe when the US has enough money to throw at people we'll do it too. Right now socialism would cripple the US. Come back in another 150 years and maybe you won't come across as a nut.
