There were a couple other references to Gere and, honestly, the 'gerbil' part slipped my memory circuits. The idea that ANY rodent/small animal would have endure what the story/rumor/et cetera reported is so very foreign and offensive that I deliberately let most of it go. This post is also not intended to say the stories were true either.

If Gere lives to be 100, get a Nobel Prize and is discovered to be the 15 Dalai Lama, he is always going to be remembers for the Gerbil Caper. And I am sorry for that. (At least a little, since I'm still looking for laughs at his expense...)

Wikipedia's article on Gere had a picture of him at the Capitol receiving an award from the 14th Dalai Lama and another of him captioned "at Nancy Pelosi's party. Looking closely you can see part of her gold lettered name over his shoulder.

I seldom, almost never, look up things about the personal life of anyone. It's A. None of my business, B. has little if anything to do with what they give/trade to me and C. almost always disappointing. (I trust they're not looking up things about me either.)

But Wikipedia is one of the first places I look for images. They are generally high resolution, good portraiture and always attributed for proper copy writing.

I don’t know of that movie. I got that pic from Smokey and the Bandit. 2, I believe...

Easily the best western ever made (that didn't star Wayne, Hackman, Holden or Eastwood). Check it out-if you like westerns. It's long but worth every second. The scene of Claudia Cardinale taking a sponge bath is worth the price of admission alone.
