So, I know you guys probably don't know me. You probably dont even care that I'm writing this. I'm just gonna go out and say it. Imgflip SUCKS right now. The worst. The old imgflip was great, non political memes that were actually clever and funny. Now it's just "So tell me why I shouldn't be able to own a gun?" "Donald Trump is the best!" "The leftist sucks!" "Fake news is bad." We all know this. But believe it or not, its not funny or clever when you post one of your stupid political memes. People will feel strongly about it and upvote, not even really caring about what it says. Maybe I'll check in sometimes and see if it's not all political sh*t, but it seems like this is just the new Imgflip is, and it's just not nearly as enjoyable as it was Late 2016 and Early 2017. I've been real inactive for a long time now, so I figured I'd just make an announcement about it. I dont care what rebuttal you have, and I don't care how that makes me sound. Imgflip is NOT good to me.

I agree there is too much American politics on here. I am Canadian, so it is not even that relevant to me. I disagree that it is recent though. I have been here for almost 4 years. The absolute worst was the primaries leading up to 2016. It got a bit better after the election. I take a break occasionally for the same reason. It just gets too much. I found that after the last break, I don't come on here nearly as much.

I do not post any political memes ... at least I don't think they are. I tried to comment on them and then you get a wave of trolls who attack you. So I try to stay away from that and just do it for myself and a few friends who joined. I post stuff each day as something creative to do and if people like it or not I don't care. I almost quit right after I started but I found that I was doing it for me, not others. I just pass by most political stuff or I know people who don't post it, I click their name and comment and up vote their stuff. Please do not quit for the people who are negative be different and keep going. That is my 2 cents. Peace brother.

I remember making an Unpopular Opinion Puffin meme that was about complaining about way too much politics(and in fact,it was the first meme of mine that hit the top of the front page),and you,my dear friend,nailed it when describing what I have against them!

The gun laws are the worst,with immigrations right behind.I can't find a single page without a meme like:"Why shouldn't I be able to own a gun?","Keep the second amendment","The gun laws are bad" WE F**KING GET IT!

Hell,pretty much any conservative meme is very unoriginal,uncreative and annoying(and let me state for a record that IMGFlip has WAYYYYYYYYYYYY tooo much f**king conservatives)"Liberals are retarded","Trump is awesome","F**k illegal aliens","Patriotism FTW"(there ones really disgust me),"MAGA","I have a right to own a gun","The election wasn't hacked"(and they say this much after the election and as if election actually meant something),"Abortion is murder",jeez...

And wanna know the worst thing? There is barely any difference between liberals and conservatives at all.Both of them are effectively exposing each other's bullshit,and both are miserably failing to realize their own bullshit.And that is also one of the biggest problems with politics in general.There is not a single ideology that is full of flaws and bullshit

It's even more annoying when you don't even live in America and couldn't care less about gun laws,immigrations,Republican vs Democrat bullshit,Trump vs Hilary bullshit,Liberal vs Conservative bullshit and a ton of other American Bullshit(George Carlin did an excellent job on handling this last topic)

Really late on this, but I appreciate it. I may return soon because I am seeing a lot of change going around. Right now, I only see 2 political memes on the front page. I mean, it's a step from the previous 5 that it would've been 5 months ago. And you took the words right out of my mouth, WE GET YOUR OPINIONS! They're just as bad as everything they're arguing against, shoving their opinions down our throats. Trump is good, Liberals are bad, Blah blah blah this is what I think! Yeah, we couldn't tell based on the other 9 memes you made about that exact same topic. I never upvote any of it, even the abortion ones, which I STRONGLY agree with. But other people may not, so I don't upvote it. Their are still a lot of flaws with this wonderful community, but it IS seeming to improve. And I hope it keeps up that way, godammit!

I am quite less active on IMGFlip now compared to the activity in my earlier days,mostly because my creativity has reached it's limit.I do,however,plan to change my style,and make my memes more dark-humored,morbid and disturbing(which,considering that I am a metalhead,and George Carlin fan,should not be difficult at all to create)

Yes,the community does seem to improve little by little,which is great.So maybe I get a little more active in the future,but for now,I shall rest,and see where everything goes from here onwards

I'm European and i don't pay much attention to memes about guns and American policy. I find some liberal memes funny and Trump memes uninteresting. I don't care if the memes that make the front page are mostly political, i'm having a good time with all the other memes that i find funny or interesting and there are a lot of that and there are more out there and some of them don't get upvoted. What i'm trying to say is that i choose what is good for me or not and don't let political memes affect me. Imgflip is not good for me for other reason, because it distracts me from getting any work done. ;)

The only way to get rid of political memes is to get everyone to downvote them. Doesn't matter which side of the spectrum it's on, if it's just a complaint, rant, or, what most are, just a snipe, downvote it, even if it's on page one.It doesn't take a lot of downvotes to do it. If it's not entertaining, it shouldn't be here, and it really doesn't belong on page one.

I totally agree with y'all. I once suggested a separate section for them like how we have pie charts, gifs, nsfw. That way we can avoid them if we want. Those who fail to tag their memes political don't get featured or I don't feel as bad downvoting them. Just a thought. Meme on!

True but I hate downvoting something because I don't like it. There's the right to voice ones opinion. But it is getting tiresome to even scroll past the bullshit. Maybe do a nonplolitical meme week! At least Get a break. :)

When you look at political memes, you'll realize that their mostly trolls trying to bait others. When confronted, they resort to name calling. Then they make more vitriolic memes. The downvote is the best way to handle these trolls that have ruined your experience on Imgflip. If enough real people, those that actually post and try to be entertaining, started downvoting the memes into oblivion, that doesn't stop their right to free speech. It just tells them their ideology isn't welcome in this forum.

If you don't like something, the downvote is there for that reason. A good example is the number of atheists here. You will rarely see them post anything anti-religious. Not because they are afraid of downvotes, but they choose to keep this place entertaining. They have reached their opinions through a lot of study and could back up everything they say: they often do so in the comments section when a political post turns to religion. Still, they are more polite than the political trolls. Trolls don't deserve any respect, so downvote at will.

I've caught many of your memes on my visits here and enjoyed them ... you're a good memer and I, too, hope you don't delete...in the same token, I can't say I blame you for thinking about it, because I've thought about it, too. The political crap does get a little long on the tooth after awhile, and there are some other memes that the moderators really shouldn't let through. I've been on here a lot less frequently as well, but instead of deleting my account I just decided to put Imgflip a lot lower on the priority scale. So, I join the others in saying "please don't delete" ... and hopefully I, with others, will see another good meme from you before too long :-) just don't let the idiots win by quitting, 'k?

I did not expect the overwhelming support of this meme. Let me make something clear: It's not because of the personalities here. I think all of you are great people. Its just the memes don't really interest me anymore right now. I hope it will become like it was a while back, but for now, I am taking a break. Also, just to be clear, I am not deleting my account. I would never. I'm sure I'll return sometime. Maybe check in a few times, make a few memes, and enjoy the great personalities around here.

I wouldn’t blame you. I remember the yoga pants trend, which I liked lol, but it got to be more and more body parts oriented on here. Several people walked away and I understand why. I realize that current events play into meme ideas, and the political news is non stop, so I expect those memes.
Ever since the election, I’ve been on Facebook a lot less because of the political crap. I avoid it. I’m not going to convert anyone, and they sure as hell ain’t changing me, so why bother?
I hope you see reasons to come back :-)

I know all to well how you feel, and do not blame you one bit . I've been in and out if this site more than a d*** at the mustang ranch, for some of the same reasons. Just a suggestion though, ( I learned this the hard way) DONT delete your account! Log out and keep it on the back burner for awhile. When you're ready to check in, the account is always there. If you're not feeling it, log out and check in again some other time. Those that know you and like you will be here when you come back.

The thing I hate is a lot of the memes that get LOADS of views are just JUNK. Not political, not funny. I KNOW that a number of my memes are a LOT funnier than many of the ones I see on the Hot list for DAYS, but mine get maybe 60-90 views.

Other people have noted that they took memes they created on Imgflip and put them on Imgur and got 100 TIMES as many views, often WAY MORE.

The reason I keep doing memes is that I also post them to Facebook and I recently started also posting them to Pinterest. If it were just Imgflip I certainly wouldn't bother.

A lot of that has to do with users, many of them paid political bots upvoting themselves with numerous alts, and also downvoting the legit stuff. I wish the site would crack down on the use of alts and do away with downvoting. Then views and upvotes would be much more organic and fair

i agree with everything you said. have you checked out imgur? they have pretty much all the same memes with almost no politics.

I feel ya. I get sick of all the same old political stuff, and most of it doesn't bother to be funny and is just nastiness and bashing of others. But I still find the site a great deal of fun. There are a lot of funny non political memes on here, and the secret is to just tune out and ignore the rest. I've made lots of great friends here who make me laugh and vice versa. The key is to finding those people and interacting with them as a group of friends, and ignoring the rest. Take care

There's just no escape from politics anywhere. I came here originally to get away from it all. But that's just the way the world is now.

however, all of a sudden a few really interesting posts showed up in the last couple of days.

I noticed a few new members here, and some of the material from them is quite funny ... they're the types of memes that keep me here, because we all need a good laugh now and then ... some days it's pretty slim pickens, tho :-/

Have to agree with you. I think because I submit some anti-conservative memes that seem to go nowhere, usually, I have been put on someone's shit list because my non-political memes also go nowhere. I don't post unless I think the meme is worthwhile, and lately I don't post much at all due to the climate of imgflip. I'll keep the account so I can still generate but my posts will probably decrease. Enjoy your hiatus and know I have enjoyed your memes!

Honestly? It was worse when I started in 2015. It goes in cycles. I just ignore what I don't like. It's up to the individual user to make what they can out of imgflip. What might suck for one will be fine for another with a discretionary scroll finger...

They ought to make it against the rules to post political memes.
