Agreed. There is a difference between 'fun' trolling and being a pr#ck.
There were a few occasions I didn't realize what I was doing until much later.
Or when someone called me out on it. In those cases I offered immediate apologies. Unfortunately, the long-term ones remain unresolved. But they are a good lesson. I'm always surprised to learn when I'm a jerk. It's never my intention - but somehow it happens from time to time.
In retrospect, I believe it could be a lack of respect. To treat some people as caricatures, incomplete, or somehow inferior.
But everyone is a PERSON, with family, dreams, goals, loved ones... not just a few pixels of text on a computer screen. When I have failed, it was for these reasons. This is the lesson I've learned.
We can't undo the past, but we can be better in the present and future. This is my goal.
