I disagree. I am a liberal myself and I value disagreement and discussion without hate. I think you seem to be referring to extreme leftists who are disconnecting themselves from the roots of liberalism.

More often than not, that is what people mean by "liberal" around here. Personally, I agree with the classical liberalism of valuing individual sovereignty and rights to life, liberty, and property. The modern "liberals" (i.e. extreme leftists) believe in seizure and redistribution of property, and silencing of dissent.
