So it's OK to have alt accounts then? I thought it was frowned upon or against the rules. Today is my three month anniversary so I'm still trying to figure it all out.

You sign in with your email address, so technically, if you have multiple email addresses, then you can have multiple accounts. I mean, how would people really know? I have a hard enough time keeping up with this one, so no thanks to the alts. :-)

It's been a hot topic because (I'm guessing) people are creating multiple accounts and using them for trolling/downvotes or even upvoting their main account's memes. But like phantasmemegoric was saying, it seems like it would just be a hollow victory. If my memes aren't good, then they aren't good. I choose not to have alts. :-)

I have a hard time keeping up with a single account also - it takes so much of what used to be FREE TIME!

Not sure how much longer I can sustain it at this level. Especially with the good weather finally arriving. I would like to do OTHER things, although I enjoy making memes and interacting with the crowd.

Btw, I hope coffee really is back. I would like to give her a proper good bye. She was always nice to me, and had great memes.

Mixed emotions here: surprised, disillusioned, glad she's back - even though she never left...

It's probably just a coincidence that she was always on page one of the Hot List with two to three memes every day (probably a mild exaggeration). I'm really not sure what to think here.

Would you kindly give your opinion on the use of alt accounts on imgflip? Including by Top Users? I was under the impression they were a BAD thing.

Well, she wasn't always on front page with 2 or 3 memes. She did gain popularity and had memes on front page by the time she deleted her thecoffeemaster account. Giveuahint and others have runs of multiple memes on front page. I don't think they use alts to do it, they're just very funny and attract a following.
If one is using alt accounts to get on front page, then I personally wouldn't see how you would get any satisfaction out of it. It would seem like a hollow victory to me.

I agree... a hollow victory - for people with different personality types than we have. And it would take a lot of work - too much, I think.

I am a fan of coffee's memes. I used to visit her profile everyday and she was always nice to me.

Ok I am really sorry!
This is the only alt I had, and yes, I'll admit, I did use it every now and then to upvote my memes, but that was back when I was a relatively new user and my memes didn't get that many upvotes. As I got more popular I stopped using this alt since I didn't really need it because my memes were getting more upvotes.
I'm not the only one here who has an alt (some users have even more), though do you really think one upvote from an alt on a meme is going to send it to the front page?
In my opinion, having an alt isn't that bad. What is bad is when you have dozens of alts to upvote your memes or you have alt/s to troll and insult others.

1. I started my old account (thecoffeemaster) on 2-13-2017.
2. It got popular once Phantasmemegoric and I made the Don't Stop Believing lyric rewrite, which when I submitted made the front page, and a bunch of my memes after that made the front page as well.
3. You sent me several links, but I think you're talking about the link to the meme where you asked people to comment links to their memes that didn't get that many views/upvotes and I commented with 2 links, one to the meme with the walrus and the bucket, and the other to the teenage life coach saying "you can even"
