I lived next to it. We had the joy of dealing with California's overflow. By your comment I take it you live there and happy with Jerry Clown. Best of luck to you.

Like living in Chicago and living with the overflow of guns from Indiana due to their lax laws.

With one minor detail, Illinois' surrounding states aren't giving the finger to federal law. Also if Chicago's problems were rooted in guns, the entire country would be a shooting gallery. Nice try, bad comparison.

Just a comparison. Oh Hey- what federal law is CA fingering?

Also- if you look at the stats the country basically is a shooting gallery. Shots fired all over this place.

I'm not following you down the gun control rabbit hole. Enforcing current laws has to be done to even see if new laws are needed.
Harboring fugitives is the 1st thing that comes to mind as a matter of state-wide policy. Thankfully some of the cities are revolting against this.

Simple question: What specific federal laws are they "fingering?"
Cite them.

the "sanctuary state" bill protects immigrants without legal residency by limiting state and municipal cooperation with the feds, including what information can be shared about illegal-immigrant inmates

Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf's decision to warn of an immigration sweep in advance, which ICE said allowed hundreds of immigrants to escape detention.
The Justice Department in January threatened California and other states with subpoenas and a loss of grant money for repeatedly failing to respond to requests for immigration compliance under a federal law known as Section 1373.

A coordinated ICE enforcement action last month on businesses in the Los Angeles area netted 212 people arrested for violating federal immigration laws, 88 percent of whom were convicted criminals.

I can keep going.

You didn't list what laws CA is "fingering".... A bill is not a law. And you don't explain how this "sanctuary state" bill protects immigrants. It may do so without breaking any federal laws.

ICE is federal....so they uphold federal laws. They netted 212 people arrested for violating federal immigration laws....not the state of CA.

Nothing you stated indicates the state is breaking any federal laws. Not sure if "fingering" means breaking....but if they are not breaking any federal laws, the feds have little to stand on.

So by all means....keep going....

Obstruction is the first one that comes to mind. California at this point is still a state, it does not get to pick and choose what federal laws are enforced within it.

It actually does. It can choose to not enforce them and let the feds do it. Like marijuana laws. However not enforcing is not the same as breaking.
