SeriousIy. A grown person claiming the point of the military is not to kill? Obviously it is! No purpose of army except to battle enemies who WILL kill or be killed.

The discipline and the training and other benefits come as side effects or by-products, because no decent human being can stay sane and become an abject killing machine and most human beings, while flawed, are pretty decent.
reply
6 ups, 2 replies
No shit. The idiot above claimed that was the sole purpose. However, he is wrong. There are many purposes of the military. The main purpose is for defense. Yes, it requires combating your enemies, sometimes to kill.

Get off my shnuts already. No need to nitpick at everything. This conversation has nothing to do with the meme...
2 ups
Thank you for actually understanding not only the purpose of the military is to SERVE AND PROTECT, NOT TO KILL. And understanding that almost every decent and regular human couldn't handle constant death and the horrors of war. Lastly, thanks you for understanding the human mind isn't built to be a killing machine, and if this was true the brain would collapse from PTSD, which is a serious problem, and other mental issues.

Just farming for points here but.......in the military, they do mainly teach you how to kill, but they also teach about survival, interrogation, rescuing hostages, etc

I was in the military, dummy, and yes, they do train you to kill your enemy. Why would you have a military of you're not trained to kill? Don't be so daft.

But there are also military programs that instill discipline and structure to kids that need it. Learn something before posting dumb links to news articles.
3 ups
What branch were you in?
5 ups
You mean boot camps? They work...sometimes. But not everyone is cut out for reprogramming, which is what the military does. Break you down and build you back up in their image. A lot of kids out there need more than what the military has to offer... unless you're talking about getting a hold of them when they're like 4 years old.

I want to personally thank you for serving us, and I hope one day laonsite will realize that his twisted and sadistic mind will comprehend and understand that the military is here to serve and protect, and even though protecting our country through war and death is possible and common, but the army and military could as easily go on the street and help the elderly, than go to war and murder.

Teaching to kill is one point of the military. Teaching young people not to think for themselves, but rather blindly obey orders, is another point. (An old classmate told me of his time in the army, "I tried to think for myself twice, and was punished both times!")

And of course, with a draft comes a third purpose: To enforce the right of the state to dictate what people should do, how much of it they should do, and what (if anything) they should be paid for doing it. In other words, institutionalizing forced labor!

And third of all, thank you very much for being angry at my comment up there! It's an irrefutable evidence that it's The Truth!

I don't suppose you believe the obvious fact that at some point many nations of the world will be in an all out state of war? I don't currently have time for videos, but I know that without the military, yes, we would be getting attacked by terrorist groups like IRIS and Al-Quaeda. Btw, what country are you from? Your final statement I'm ignoring, because I can't make any sense out of it, and I can't see the logic.

I support our service people. I don't support our reasons for going to war. War is another bullsh*t man's game and the only reason we went into Iraq was to steal Saddam's oil. The devastating effects of which left hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians dead, thousands of maimed or dead American soldiers, and new generations of terrorists who are p*ssed at the US for killing their relatives.

Although I strongly believe in defending our country, as do you, war in my perspective, as a neurologist is only natural, because we are only human we always want power, think of it as two dogs sharing a lawn, obviously the more imperious and overbearing hound will claim dominance. As for humans, even though we fight to claim dominance and power, the extents some people take it to can only be described as insane, outrageous, and sometimes even radical.
2 ups
I'm convinced war is a man's game. It's testosterone-driven. There's no way if women ruled the world there would have been so much blood-shed over so little.
0 ups
The reason I say this is because, yes men could be proven to have a tendency to argue via physical violence than other actions, but as humans we are made to think we always deserve more. Now I might be saying this only as a neutral and broad perspective, but in reality there isn't a single human that hasn't thought or said, "Man I really want this." or "Aww, I wanted that." Now I do believe yes, woman in a situation most likely, not completely, will choose different choices, and yes actions of a male are caused by release of hormones, but as the brain developed it goes through a stage of extreme incline, which depending on person, could lead to change of common actions, behavior, aggression, and others.

It wasn't WMDs because we know the uranium deals were a lie and the IAEA had dismantled his program years before. It wasn't to protect the people because we've killed more than Saddam did. And it wasn't about Osama because he was in Pakistan and Afghanistan. No, it was about getting an in on Saddam's oil and the untapped reserves we knew he had. As far as how much? And North Korea doesn't have mandatory minimal military service for all. They have mandatory MAXIMUM military service for a select few.

I suggest mandatory MINIMAL military service for young adults who act like brats and disrespect their country by committing petty crimes or those who think it's okay to stuff Tide pods into their mouths like a bunch of autistic idiots.

Weather being transgender is a choice or a forced thing is not a question I'm fully able to answer. It's just that all the evidence I CURRENTLY have in front of me leads me to think it's a choice. If you have anything you think would change my mind, feel free to say it. I always try to keep an open mind.

All the transgender people I have talked to say that it's how they are, not how they choose to be. It's like being gay or straight. If you're straight, you can't just wake up one day and choose to be gay, and vice verse.
reply
0 ups, 2 replies
Have to call BS on that. They do want to, and they have one color "hair" but want to dye it another. Transgender is a euphemism for mental illness, confusion over reality, a gender wannabee, if you will. You can act or transform your junk but it is a foregone conclusion what kind you are.

reply
0 ups, 1 reply
How many people actually believe they are a fish? None that I've ever heard of. There are thousands and thousands of transgender people in the US alone. I don't think there are very many "transspecies" people. Just because you don't like something, that doesn't mean the word itself it made up.
reply
0 ups, 1 reply
My point exactly anything beginning with trans is bullshit no matter how many people think so. Thinking and being are not the same. The word cannot be real if it is imagination. It's not about liking it. That's the error in your brain. Liking/believing do not mean it is true. They are like the flat earth society of sexuality.

What would you say if someone told you that conservatives are hellbent on destroying the nation? Would you say they were being irrational and hyperbolic? If so, you'd be right. And you likewise sound irrational and hyperbolic when you say that about liberals.

Just because someone shares values different from you, that doesn't mean they want to destroy this country.

"Take Obama as the Example...he hates what our country is about and wanted to change it for the worse."

He actually said that? Or are you just assuming that?

"Demkcratic lawmakers are constantly attempting to strip Americans of their fundamental rights."

Such as...?

"So yeah, liberalism is destroying America."

Again with the hyperbole and irrational statements. Also, you never answered my question. If someone said the same thing about conservatives, what would you say?
reply
2 ups, 4 replies
1. Obama proved that with his actions. He is a racist, as is his wife, and he seems to have a particular dislike for white people. Everything was about race with him. If you didn't like him, you're a racist. It was never about disliking his policies with him.

2. Such as the right to keep amd bear arms. Instead of addressing mental health, the decline of the nuclear family, and education democrats lawmakers try to ban certain classics of "scary" guns without regardless to the legacy of doing so. Furthermore, most democrats despise the fact that the Second Amendment even exists. They tell us that they don't want to take guns from law-abiding citizens, yet they introduce legislation that, while not specifically bans firearm ownership by ordinary citizens, makes it either prohibitively expensive or difficult. An example of this is the proposed price hike on ammunition.

If someone said the same thing about conservatives I would likely try to engage them in debate and an exchange of ideas. You never know, I may learn something from them. However, most will not discuss and choose to lob insults or objects at those who disagree with them on even the smallest matter. Some will discuss, most will not.

Actually...my ancestors came to these United States from Ireland in the 1800s. If you're foggy on how Irish immigrants were treated in America during that time, feel free to Google it. No, they weren't technically enslaved like other people were, but they still had it rough. Enslaved, no. Abused, absolutely.

I was referring to Obama''s ancestors when I said "his ancestors", but the fact that I could be referring to several different groups of immigrants (weather they came here willingly or were slaves) says something about how Americans treat foreign people.

Agreed. Other than the actual slaves I think Chinese immigrants had it the hardest around that time. They did the most dangerous jobs, were paid next to nothing, and were treated like garbage. That is because most Americans saw the Chinese as less than human. Sad.

I feel like we an all agree that some stricter background checks, and those with mental health issues should be disallowed from having guns. I do not follow politics personally and I am not sure exactly what legislation has passed, so I am not sure what exactly is going on with gun laws.
reply
1 up, 1 reply
Agreed. Those with violent criminal convictions and those certain mental health issues shouldn't be allowed to get a gun. Background checks are already in place. I know because I submit to them every time I buy a gun, even at a gun show.

But I'm left wondering how the mental health of the buyer can be verified. It seems like a doctor would need to be involved, and then I wonder if it would be our personal doctor or some gun-hating government lackey with an agenda. Furthermore, which mental health issues would disqualify potential buyers? I have dyslexia, which is a psychological condition, and can buy guns every day if I want. What about HIPAA and my right to privacy? Who would be responsible for gathering and storing my personal information? Who would have access to it? These are questions that I want answered before I will support any change in the system we currently have.
reply
1 up, 1 reply
Any change deserves and needs to be questioned. I personally would say that disorders like psychopathy or possibly depression. Perhaps a personal doctor could give a detailed mental background check?
1 up
Just realized I cannot write a complete sentence today. For the first sentence it was supposed to be people with these disorders possibly not being allowed to buy a gun.
reply
1 up, 1 reply
Was Obama a racist? I don't know. Maybe he held some racist views, maybe he didn't. Let's assume for the moment that he was. Disliking what many white people have done to many black people in this country's history is not the same as wanting to destroy the country. It just means he has a problem with what he sees as systemic racism.

I agree that many Democrat lawmakers try to pass ridiculous gun laws that target "scary guns". I'll even concede that some of them (keyword: some) try to pass laws that would clearly violate the 2nd Amendment. But what I don't see is them trying to take guns away from citizens, which is what I hear people claim time and time again.

If you agree that someone who paints all conservatives with the same broad brush has some bad views that would be well served by rational discussion, why can't you see that that also applies to someone who views liberals the same way?
reply
2 ups, 1 reply
Well, you do have a point. Generalization lends nothing to intelligent discussion. I do have some very close friends who are quite liberal, yet I respect them and their views. Furthermore, I dislike being painted with a broad brush simply because I happen to be a white heterosexual male and a gun owner. So to that point I will concede.

As for some democratic lawmakers, you can find the illustrious Nancy Pelosi on YouTube stating what she would do if she could. The problems is that too many other lawmakers agree with her.

As for Obama, I think he may be a pretty cool guy. Hell, I wouldn't be opposed to having a beer with him and not discussing politics. I agree that it is good and proper to be angry about the past transgressions of all people, and a real effort should be made to keep those transgressions from every happening again. Some of my closest friends are people of colors; I do not identify them as such, but know them as my brothers and sisters. Some have shed blood with me. I see racism as one of the biggest, if not the biggest, problems facing our nation today. We are divided and that is wrong. I guess the reasons that we are divided are less important than the fact that we are not a united people.

My point exactly. You don't get much ironh, do you? You've been around since 2013 but the number of "trolls" surprises you. Anyone who's been here since 2013 should know better, in my humble opinion.

I'm not surprised by the amount of trolls on this site, just the amount that decided to show up on this particular meme.

Or maybe fight the kneejerk reaction and have the FBI actually follow up on leads instead of running around on political witch hunts.
reply
10 ups, 3 replies
That's a problem for sure. Learning about the fact that the FBI was too busy pursuing taking Trump down on bullshit charges and two FBI agent lovers texting each other over 50,000 times instead of doing their actual job...If they were doing their job they would have saved 17 people from being gunned down.

It all stems from the Clinton "do nothing" Presidency" and the George W. Bush presidency being too chicken shit to fix anything, then the Obama administration completely destroying any ounce of credibility this country and its law enforcement had left.
reply
8 ups
I'll give Obama the man something of a break here, I don't think he had what it took to politicize all the different government agencies, but his advisors, the DNC and the rest had no problem exploiting his inexperience in record time.
reply
7 ups, 1 reply
The cops were at that house many times. If they, or the FBI took away his guns it wouldn't have happened. Wait, taking away guns is a no no. If he hadn't done anything up till then, how were any law enforcement personnel to react? There's what, 30,000 FBI people and they're all working against Trump?
reply
8 ups, 2 replies
It isn't about how many agents there are. It's about the top level leadership and the fact that this guy was reported several times and nothing was done.

Also, taking away his guns mean nothing. If he wanted to do it, he would have gotten a gun. But since it was a gun free zone, he had little to no resistance.
reply
4 ups
I agree with the leadership problem and somebody was sacked or resigned.
May have to turn schools into fortresses but soft targets are everywhere.
reply

You mean the top level leadership that has been fired or forced to resign by Trump and replaced by people of his choosing?
reply
7 ups, 1 reply
He had all last year in control of this country and that's when Nicholas Cruz was buying his guns. Trying to blame Obama is a joke when the NRA donated over $30 mil to GOP campaigns, $13 mil to Trump's alone. The FBI dropped the ball but so did Trump.
reply

Trump didn't rescind the background checks for mentally ill buying guns or he didn't receive $30 million in help from the NRA for his campaign?
reply
2 ups, 1 reply
She does have one good point, though. The shooter bought his guns while Trump was president. If he had bought them while Obama was president, many conservatives would be saying that that means Obama is to blame.
reply
4 ups
I don't blame the president, no matter who it is, unless the president and his administration sold it to him. The president isn't responsible for the shootings. Now there are administrations that pass laws or don't pass laws that can make it easier for them to get guns...
reply
4 ups
Good luck with that.

I do realize that not every member of this current generation is a retarded tide pods eating, transgender. But there are many who are and this is a joke.
reply
3 ups
I know it's a joke. I even shared it, because I thought the same, but I was quickly reminded that I'm both related to and friends with many in "this" generation you speak of, that are noble and full of hope for the future, a future that they will likely be the ones shaping. People who don't know who they are, and or, people who eat Tide pods are not likely the ones who will be in charge one day. So, I just wanted to add some positivism to an otherwise negative stream of comments. When we say "this" generation is "X", the logical form of that would be All "A" is "B", which would be inaccurate; hence your comment, "I know there are 'some'". That was the point I was bringing out. Generalizations of entire groups of people, even accidental, can cause a lot of undue strife.

Better to be a "conservative hack" than to be an ignorant fool of a progressive liberal douche.
reply
2 ups, 1 reply
I think rational conservatives exist. They are like unicorns though, and know that the GOP is f**ked, especially with Trump at the helm. I'm willing to admit the DNC is f**ked, I have no qualms about admitting to my party's shortcomings. Same can't be said for conservative cucks that still support Trump.
reply
6 ups, 1 reply
No, you just hate Trump because it's popular to hate him and because you think anyone who supports him is an idiot. I would say the same for anyone who supported and still supports Barack Obama.

I am not a "Trump supporter," but I support many things that he has done and is trying to do.

You coming on here and calling conservatives who support Trump hacks and cucks is counter productive. You sound just like every other leftist out there right now...and most of those are loud mouthed, void of any morals, man hating, racist, hate-filled idiots. Not calling you that, but just by your couple of comments, you come off as one of them.
reply
2 ups, 2 replies
cuck is such an appropriate word though. What do you call a party that is openly screwing you over, but you like it? sounds like a cuckhold to me. I don't hate him because it's popular, I hate him because he deserves to be hated. Mark my words, he will go down as one of the worst Presidents in history. Stop buying that snake oil, and figure out what your party is actually supposed to look like. I'm doing more work than most conservatives are at organizing their party just because I'm trying to avoid an echo chamber. Get with the program. Trump happened because the center was never found. Conservatives are more lost than the shambles the left is in, but they just don't know it yet. I can't even argue with types like you because you think socialism and capitalism are incompatible. We aren't on the same page, and unless you reconsider some definitions, we'll never be.
reply
7 ups, 2 replies
You see, you're just giving an opinion, not fact. You claim Trump is "screwing me over" but I saw a lot of cuckholery coming from the left with Barack Obama. It's all opinion. But I'm not sure how upholding the immigrant laws is screwing me over. Or how allowing me to have more money in my checks every month is screwing me over. Or how protecting innocent unborn children is screwing me over. Or how keeping more jobs here in the states is screwing me over....
reply

Very true, most snowflakes see Trump as an imperious idiot, but really every thing he has done has benefited the Americans more than any other president has done. And it is nice to see another person who understands that gaining money, being protected, and having someone in control of our country that has already in one year done so much for us is good.
reply

Obama was center right. As a conservative you should have love that. The left was severely dissapointed with Obama, because he was too far to the right. His problem and why everyone disliked him is because he was too conservative!

Your check didn't get any bigger because of Trump. Unless you are extremely rich. Immigration shouldn't even be on the list of topics we should be talking about. It's demagoguery, scapegoating the real problems. Those innocent babies will be born into unwanted families or a terrible foster system that will breed them into criminals. Those are the facts.
reply
4 ups, 1 reply
Everything you just said was incorrect. Obama was one of the furthest left presidents we've ever had. And the left love him. Which is why they continue to protect his failed presidency.

And you must not be seeing all the companies giving bonuses and raises lately. And don't tell me it's because of Obama. That would be another lie you believe.
reply
0 ups, 1 reply
Bonuses where decided last year, and they are simply pushing them, so if anyone deserves credit it IS Obama. You think it is incorrect, but that's how it happened. They didn't just decide to give everyone bonuses because Trump. That's your shortsightedness.

Do any research on Obama, and you will see that he was far too right, compared to the platform he ran on. He promised to be a true progressive, and pretty much half-assed it. Compared to Clinton he was more progressive, but Clinton would be very conservative by today's standards. We have yet to have a true progressive that leans to the left of center. You conservatives should be happy about that, until you realize that it's that conservatism that has been holding our country back for decades. It's rekindled in an unbridled form because of the failure of previous Presidents. They just jumped on the bandwagon that was most appealing to them.

But the truth is people don't pay close enough attention to realize the pattern of mistakes the country has made. Those who have, who are conservatives, know that the center has been disappearing as we become more of an Oligarchy.
