Yes, but since the country has an electoral system (thank god for that) the "popular vote" doesn't mean anything. I could go on about why we need the electoral vote, but that would just create an argument and I don't feel like arguing.

So, therefore, the popular vote is very meaningful.

I agree that the popular vote is important in some way. However, that isn't what determines the actual outcome of the election. And it shouldn't either.

That is correct. The electoral college determines the winner. That is what makes the states equal but it is very rare that a candidate wins the election without winning the popular vote. It's only happened 4 times in 240 years. this election proved that people need to vote to help their candidate win their states electoral votes. It also proved that the each individual state's popular votes are more important than the country's collective popular votes as a whole.

And the failure of the Electoral College to fulfill the wish of a majority of Americans means one party manipulated the Electoral College - ever hear of battleground states?
