He won by default

He won by winning the electoral college, which is exactly the way every other president has won it since 1804.

So very true but every president that has won the election has won both the electoral vote and the popular vote except for 4 presidents. Donald Trump, George W Bush, Benjamin Harrison and Rutherford B Hayes.

Yes, but since the country has an electoral system (thank god for that) the "popular vote" doesn't mean anything. I could go on about why we need the electoral vote, but that would just create an argument and I don't feel like arguing.

I call it debating not arguing. Although the nationwide popular vote does not directly determine the winner of a presidential election, it does strongly correlate with who is the victor. In 52 of the 56 total elections held so far (about 93 percent), the winner of the national popular vote has also carried the Electoral College vote. So, therefore, the popular vote is very meaningful.

I agree that the popular vote is important in some way. However, that isn't what determines the actual outcome of the election. And it shouldn't either.

Thanks to the electoral college, it isn't downtown L.A. and Chicago determining the elections.

That is correct. The electoral college determines the winner. That is what makes the states equal but it is very rare that a candidate wins the election without winning the popular vote. It's only happened 4 times in 240 years. this election proved that people need to vote to help their candidate win their states electoral votes. It also proved that the each individual state's popular votes are more important than the country's collective popular votes as a whole.

No, he won the electoral vote and lost the popular vote and got elected. He is only the 4th president in American history to do so.

Read the US Constitution lately? Or are you arguing that gathering a substantial majority of the popular votes constitutes a loss of the popular vote? Popular vote Trump popular vote 62,984,825 H. Clinton Popular Vote 65,853,516
that is 2,868,691 more popular votes. And many Absentee Ballots were left uncounted when the Electoral College results went for trump. And the failure of the Electoral College to fulfill the wish of a majority of Americans means one party manipulated the Electoral College - ever hear of battleground states? Yeah, I want only four or five states to select our President.

If you don't count all the illegal aliens that got to vote, plus vote fraud, Trump won in a landslide.

fraud or no fraud. aliens or no aliens. dead people voting or not. it doesn't matter now. He still won by default.

He played by the rules and won. Trump campaigned in blue states that Hillary ignored and swung them to his side. He ran a better campaign, fought harder, and won. In chess, it's not who has the most pieces that wins, but whoever knocks over the other's king.

LOL, without California, the USA would collapse in a year. They provide all the welfare tax dollars to the broke red states who bitch about welfare and California.
