When I was little my grandparents lived in the country in Oklahoma! They had no running water in the house, I remember bathing in a washtub in the front yard by the well that had a handpump! And of course the old outhouse Lol :) Loved them, folks :)

My dad grew up in a house like that. No electricity either. Country folks appreciate things. I miss my grandparents and great grandparents every single day. The one grandma I have left, is rich as hell and I am her least favorite! Go figure lol

I never knew my great-grandparents, Reckon I was 11 when grandpa passed but we had grandma till 2001, she was 92 when she passed! we use to go every Sunday to their house when I was a boy, we'd all pile on the tailgate of that old 49 Chevy and down the county roads, we'd go! It was always a treat to get one of granny's homemade biscuits with some of grandpa's homemade grape jelly Lol

Mmmmm homemade biscuits and jelly sounds amazing! Those are some awesome memories aren’t they? Things were simple and didn’t take much to make us happy. My grandmother that was dirty like me made blackberry jam. She would go through those bushes full of snakes to get them. We are lucky we had those times.

It was the best! We raised everything we needed on the farm place, chickens, hogs cows, I remember my Mom churning butter with the cream skimmed from the milk! We all had chores and worked together, and the old man ruled with an Iron fist and loving heart! I cherish all those memories :)

Oklahoma sounds like a great place! Times sure have changed. At least we learned from them! Having a farm would be awesome :)

When i wasca kid our neighbor Ida was a woman in her 70's. She lived as she grew up. No power, no toilet , it was an outhouse connected to the house woodshed. I'm guessing she had a big family because it had 3 stalls. The house water was an old hand pump water system. And of course she heated and cooked with a wood stove. We rented her barn from her, it also had the old hand pump water system, always needed to leave a 5 gallon pale of water beside it to prime it.

That’s so cool. She stuck with what she knew and probably lived a long life because of not being lazy lol

Sadly when she moved to the old folks home the buyer bulldozed her house and barn. I guess I'm just too nostalgic.
