I actually didn't mind spending the holidays with my Marines. Great camaraderie and memories.

If I was at home base for the holidays, my wife and I always tried to invite a couple of Marines who couldn't be with their families over to our house. Good times!

That's cool...I guess I just never really knew...LOL Geography and History were never subjects that held my interest...LOL

It's fine. I once stayed at my cousins place when she was in the Navy, down in Georgia. I was asked all kinds of questions like "have you heard of McDonald's? " do you live in a igloo? And such lol

The ACMC came out to spend Thanksgiving with us at Sabit Qadam a few years ago. We had our food setup outside and had to wait on him to fly in. When his Osprey came in it flew directly over where we had the food prepped and in typical Osprey fashion, sprayed oil all over everything. Still the best Thanksgiving I had in country and I've had several.

...and sand, too!
