KEEPING VEGAS IN MY PRAYERS! | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
I was supposed to be there at the festival last night!
Please keep our town in your prayers!!
All the hospitals, ERs are filled to max!
No matter where you live, you can help by donating blood... SOOO many desperately NEED it and our community has pulled together to donate... but the lines are long and not keeping up with the demand.
The Red Cross will fly in blood from other centers if there is a surplus in the other towns.
PLEASE HELP!!!
Just found out that my friends 2 nieces, 15 & 17, died last night/ this morning from massive blood loss. Please... be a hero and donate!

More senseless death in the land of freedom. Tragic just doesn't quite say it.

The thing is, the guns he used were fully automatic and are already illegal. Gun control doesn't work.
6 ups, 7y
They get sold semi-automatic and get modified to full automatic. You're right, it doesn't help much when people can easily turn a legal firearm into an illegal one. Where does it stop? Having all the weapons in the hands of the government is just as scary as in the hands of a lunatic.

I don't have the answers but where there's a will there's a way and governments produce and sell weapons of war every day to those completely unfit to have them. Who's the real threat here?

This is sick. 3000 people just wanted to have a good time, and this one idiot shoots at them from above. How dare he look down on them and attack them, when they're stuck there and have nowhere to hide. Hopefully we can move forward with greater resilience, and bring an end to sick tragedies like this.

RIP 59

Like what? There are probably over 500 gun laws on the books and this coward broke a lot of them. What do we do, make more laws that cowards like this will break? That's why they are called criminals.

Lets also take away cars from people because someone got drunk and killed a school bus full of kids with a car.

So if we don't need gun laws because they don't work, then why do we need ANY LAWS GENIUS?!
2 ups, 7y
Where did I say we don't need ANY laws?

I almost typed apples to oranges on my car comment, but I knew you'd refute it anyways. BUT it's the same principle in America. We all look at the glass in different ways.

I like all that you said. But how does ANY of that stop the dude in Vegas? It doesn't. and that was my point. I doubt the attrition thing would work, but hey, I was wrong once. OK more than once. :)

The fact he would have to insure ALL the guns and wait 30 days may have dterred him. Nothing is absolute or a sure fire way to succeed but to do nothing at all or to give up is futile.

I see what you are saying. I really do. But the CURRENT laws did not deter him. Isn't murder against the law at a high level? He knew what he wanted to do. He knew he was going to commit suicide. This was flat out premeditated and no law on the books was going to deter him. This was a very smart man that wanted to make a name for himself. He did not wake up that morning and plan this out. And no one is giving up. But you cannot take away the rights on MILLIONS of law abiding gun owners over the actions of a few.

No rights would be taken away. You would have the RIGHT to own guns but you would be FORCED to be responsible.

We're at an impasse here. You can't 'force' responsible. Not with guns, not with driving/texting in cars, not with drugs, not with raising children and so on. That's why we are where we are in our society. Great discussion. Thanks for not resorting to name calling, btw.... I move on from those.

Speed limits, reckless driving tickets, child endangerment charges etc....we are law'd and regulated into being responsible all the time.
2 ups, 7y,

Like I said - being regulated and expecting regulations to be followed - unfortunately go hand in hand in this society. Responsibility is still up to the user, not the laws.

But the laws and regards help. I was driving on a parkway yesterday and i *think* I could have easily been doing 70 but the speed limit was 50 so I slowed it down to a reasonable 55. A few renegades got pulled over and rightly so as they were drive ng too fast and weaving in and out of traffic etc... It's a windy road that not everyone is equipped to handle at 70+ so the speed limit helps ensure people are responsible. Not everyone....but it helps because if it wasn't there, I'd be one of those unsafe drivers too.

We are responsible. We just don't want the government forcing us into things.
[deleted]
1 up, 7y
If "we" we're all responsible MANY gun crimes wouldn't happen . Straw purchases and black market transactions aren't done by "responsible" gun owners.

Better gun laws and regulations don't take away any guns. They just help ensure those that have them are responsible and accountable.

No, we don't need gun laws. A lot of good that did for Vegas.

And I'll continue to pray, because prayer is powerful, whether you think it is or not.

Lol....we don't need gun laws and prayer is powerful. Wow. Just....wow. this is why we continue to have mass shootings.

We will pray our way to a better society. Get rid of all laws, jails etc and let's just pray everyone will be nice.
5 ups, 7y
It’s not about gun laws. It’s about the responsibility with using the guns with care and respect, and how you are useing them.
