The moment they start attacking police, breaking other people's stuff, setting fire to shit, and defecating in public, they stop being "citizens exercising free speech" and become riotous criminals who should be arrested, tried, and jailed.

The US Gov't DID stop Nazis in America during WWII, it also did likewise with Communists (McCarthy era ring a bell?) after, as well as Anarchists in the 1920s, and in the 1960s: Black Panthers, the Chican Movement, American Indian Movement, etc - movements that if not totally eradicated, were effectively neutered.

In fact, it has been questioned over the years why the FBI and other Law Enforcement and the Courts did not do likewise with the KKK and other white supremacist groups.

...and for the record, people can be "intent on" whatever the hell they want, until they actually *act* on it, they haven't done anything wrong. The instant you start policing speech because you're afraid of where you think it might lead, you become the very thing you fear.

The First amendment: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

They were not redressing grievances. They wouldn't be religiously persecuted. They were not peaceful. They were wanting violence and carnage. There is a difference, and the constitution knows it. They could've been dealt with, yet the current government did nothing.

Until they start actually attacking people or property, they are still peaceful protesters in the eyes of the law. And Trump specifically said they should condemned for their actions and beliefs.

Most people don't know that because all the Liberal News Outlets edited his speech down to fit their agenda.

A person died because of that crowd. If that doesn't count, then what will?

That's when law enforcement gets involved for rioting.
