I read the kids apology. Kind of advanced for a 15 yo kid trolling the internet, but right in line with CNN lawyers.

I don't even care how old the guy is, no one should be threatened like that by anyone, let alone a huge corporation like CNN. They overstepped their bounds and did something that was illegal.

They spent extra money and time to find out who made the video and apparently it took only a few hours. Then they put out a statement that said the creator's apology was accepted and to let this be a warning to anyone else who decides to mess with them that they'd expose them. They told this kid or whoever it really was, that if he went back innhis apology, they'd release all his personal info and make sure he lost his job and etc.

I saw no threat in there, nor in the apology from Hanassholesolo. It did point out that HAS had requested that his identity remain anonymous, which CNN agreed to. After all, besides being a private citizen, it would make them an accessory to hate crimes should his name and location be published. As I understand it, he built himself a bunch of haters because of comments he made that were racist or anti-sematic, so that's not surprising.

True. He had every right to make the GIF. I wouldn't have apologized for it. His usage was protected by the first amendment. Had I made it, I would be soaking in the limelight. I haven't had a 15 minutes of fame in a few decades. I can't figure out why or how, they would black mail him unless he worked for a liberal business, like an Abortion clinic or Hillary In 2020 campaign.

They'e seriously asking for trouble. Even if you take the kid's apology at face value a petty Goliath (relative to the kid) is not a sympathetic figure.
