OAKWOOD was the Servant's Quarters traditionally. Poor folks - with a disproportionate percentage/concentration of Black and Brown - historically (a plurality? Majority?). A few weeks ago, the argonaut ran a Cover Story about Oakwood's disappearing Black community...in many cases already represented by anachronistic artifacts of the area's dispossessed inhabitants. A BAPTIST church... Some graffiti.
I wish I could show you ALL the history you're forgetting - in this tiny comment box... But aside from the ACTUAL - UNDENIABLE - ETHNIC CLEANSING of the 1940's....
There is also the ongoing economic process of removing the poor AND PARTICULARLY the PEOPLE OF COLOR - who have traditionally been the majority in the OAKWOOD neighborhood. By contrast...nearby El Segundo used to PROCLAIM it's low percemtage of both "Blacks" AND "JEWS" in advertisements....
