I actually like theme weeks because it can help inspire ideas if I am having a dry spell. I think the fact that a week can get hijacked by real life events just shows that people can still make any memes they want, so theme weeks don't interfere with that. As much as I like dogs, I am not actually upset that dog week was hijacked :)
