Seriously, have you ever seen pictures from back in the pre-tv days with the whole family huddled around the radio? Funny stuff!

Before the advent Radio and TV, if furniture was pointed at anything, it was the fireplace.

Yes, that's a fact. I went with the radio first and wanted to see if anyone would pick up the fireplace thing. Good one.

My grandparents had theirs faced towards the coffee-table.

My grandfather was a big Cleveland Indians fan. When I go over to the house to visit, him and grandma would be at the table, watching the radio as the announcer called the plays. This was in the 70s. I don't think Grandpa ever bothered with Cable.

That's a great mental picture. We must be about the same age. I knew older people in the 1970's that rarely watched TV either and would rather listen to radio.

Youngstown. My boy still lives there with his family, and I have a couple brothers, a sister. A lot of nieces and nephews for generations.

I grew up in Toledo but my parents were from Cleveland.

Last time I lived in Ohio was about 15 years ago. There wasn't enough employment to keep me interested.

Right?! I joined the Marine Corps and never regretted leaving. I always say "It's a nice place to be FROM!"

I still enjoy going back to visit because my brother lives there, but I wouldn't want to live there.
