All I'm doing is using Captain Underpants The First Epic Movie, which I consider to be the Best Dreamworks Movie yet, as a counterexample to what you just said. And, same storyline? If you ask me, reviewers are getting repetitive. All i'm hearing is, "This is awful, It's not the 90's stuff I grew up with." Take notes Haedox, Saberspark, Diamondbolt, and RelaxAlax.
