Well, right now you're my only bestie - along with Dash and TF. I'm back to nearly-full service. I think they may make me wait longer between comments for a while which is okay. Just two vaguely sarcastic comments to two obnoxious people yesterday and I got knobbed. In fact after I lost photo commentary I went from having to wait 125 seconds to being asked to wait 21 minutes - without commenting in-between. I made my case to the mods and I guess they went lenient. (((hugs)))

Thanks for all the support TF. They put me on 'improve your commentary' again, which only tells me who is the one doinking me since I sent a fairly tame reply to their comment at the bottom of my 'exiled' meme along the lines of 'I don't downvote you, I believe in free speech' and almost immediately went to 'wait 43 minutes'. Heck, I'm not even arguing with anyone now. Guess I just need to hang with TF, Shabs, and Dash, only I hate to think that I would have to self-censor. Let's see how long I have to wait for to send this to you...

That quickly makes me suspect he is a mod using an alt account.

Unfortunately if it's a mod there's not a lot that could be done. I would think they would police each other, or I would hope so.

I know who the perpetrator is for certain now. That's what I had been doing - spending time with the nice people. My replies to the political comments were mild, at least compared to my past agitation. And I just noticed that the views on my Bender meme went from 240 earlier this morning to over 330 now so I suspicion so-and-so's alt accounts are dissing me. That and this guy usually can't help but reply to anything sent his way and he hasn't lately, so my guess is he's busy downvoting. :P I'll go back to my happy, friendly self, but I won't self-censor. I won't quit either, a 'break' means just that.

Most walk away from the political fight or reply with insults which are easy to ignore. When they go silent and bomb you with downvotes is when I have problems. I don't like restrictions on free speech.

I'm beginning to wonder if some of the issues with people being constrained isn't automated? Meaning, X gets certain amount of downvotes so the system is set-up to automatically slow them down or eventually send them to the 'improve your commentary' woodshed? Then after a while some mods come in to check things out. If you get others to upvote (thank you) then that automatically helps your times or takes you out of probation? Dunno, but the quickness with which the dark side wank slowed me down makes me feel that it might be a programming set. Plus there's a lot of people on site so a few mods would have trouble covering all that territory without help. Out of all this what I think would help best would be cutting back on alt accounts. Perhaps requiring e-mail addresses with every account. How many nutjobs are going to get extra addresses just to troll?

Cyphr text. Perhaps automate the Downvote TURN-OFF fufunction @ a variable rate...based on an algorithm. Perhaps a PLACEBO Downvote - so people Don't create an ENDLESS number of Alts.

Imgur does that. It protects the users that are there for fun, but also protects the trolls from downvote hell. One reason I stopped using them. I'd post things with a couple hundred upvotes, but when you looked at the stats, the same post would have 300 downvotes. WTF?

A lot. It doesn't take many. I had a troll on Usenet had a dozen emails, used multiple nyms, or nymshifted (easy to do) so it was impossible to ignore him. I wouldn't doubt if it's the same guy. Abused by his parents (or, at least his dad. Made to feel worthless) never able to hold a job, but no problem. Lives off inheritances. Decided to spread his hell, and got hooked up with political groups as miserable as him. If course, he really loses it when you mention his predilection for young boys. One sick puppy.

I refuse to avoid people's commentary just because they're arsewipes. But I'll modify my responses in a way that makes it harder to justify. I've also mentioned his names to the mods.
