EVERY WALL HAS TWO SIDES ROBINTON- MASTERHARPER OF PERN | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
I'm glad to see people are understanding that, while one side may keep out the enemy, the other side is used to entrap and enslave the very people it was meant to protect.

Its the people who always did do the right things for the right reasons i feel the most for.we all do and would do anything to protect the ones we love. Its human nature . Fear and intimidating only breeds misunderstood opinions. Im nor saying that theres an easy answer. Just have to ask the right questions :)

Tunnels, ladders, drones - even float a boat around the wall....I see lots of South Americans taking cruises to Canada in the near future. No wall up there.

But you are right, you cannot stop every determined actor trying to infiltrate the country. Sending the jobs south of the border didn't work, so now what?

I believe the real issue is not so much the PRESENCE of "illegal immigrants" as it is their soaking up public resources while many of our native countrymen, service personnel, etc., wallow in poverty. The rape, murder, and mayhem aspect is just used by the alternative facts agencies and politicos to sensationalize and propagandize the subject.

Besides, if we were one worldwide nation, who would all the intelligence agencies spy on? Yep, the people.

We will never be one world. Didn't work for the Romans, won't work for any nation. Even the "United Nations" can't agree on sh!t. Can you imagine the volunteered abdication of kings, queens, dictators and the resignations of national presidents? The willing disassembling of whole governments, military forces, arms and munitions factories?

Me neither.

I've discussed this on various occasions. No wall is going to keep a determined person out. The reason for them to come here has to be eliminated. That means making the employers fines for hiring illegals a lot steeper.I think the max fine right now is $5K. Multiple the current fine structure 10 times, and watch the business owners change hiring practices. No jobs, that part disappears.

Illegals that run drugs into the US? We do like Portugal and that problem clears itself up. No profit motive. Why buy dime off Jose when tour corner drugstore sells it for less.

Rapists, murderers, and thieves? We have our domestic ones, and Enough go south to do their deeds so it evens out.

No, we become the prisoners.

At the time they were closest this planet had to being a nuclear power: they had fire crackers.

Seriously, the wall along the US/Mexico border in Arizona describes it well: millions of dollars overcome by a $10 rope from Wal-Mart.

Think the walls are working in San Diego? Like anything else, as long as the bait (employment) is here, they'll come.

From 2007 to 2010, a large exodus of Hispanics occurred: they were heading home because there was no work up here. Now that the standard of living in Mexico has gone up, what we're getting are the Southern neighbors of Mexico, mostly Guatamala, Columbia, and El Salvador. Without the lure of employment, though, they stay South.

Interesting factoid: At the beginning of the cold war, China was moving forward with a nuke program. They went to move a bomb via train, to it's testing location when it detonated. Unfortunately for China, all their scientists were onboard the train with the bomb, along with a considerable amount of the notes. This mistake set them back in the arms race by about 30 years.

I hadn't heard this, but then, most governments hide their ineptitude behind the bureaucracy and secrecy: totalitarian States eben moreso. It's to hid the Ineptitude of the bureaucrats. Heck, China had a dam burst in '75 that killed, IIRC, 170+K people. They kept that under wraps for like 30 years. And we're still learning Soviet secrets.

There's a book about it (can't remember the name), written by a former USAF pilot who flew the 'weather' squadron. The weather squadron monitors the weather, which everyone knows about. They also monitor seismographs on the ground. They can tell the difference between an earthquake and a underground nuke detonation. They use the weather data to calculate when and where the micro-particles from the blast will enter international airspace, then they send a plane to collect the air and use the samples to discover what kind of bomb it is, what it was made from, it's size, etc... The idea is to monitor treaties. (My ex was a SEO on the planes that did the air samples. ...and this is NOT classified info I'm sharing; it's just not publicized)

Another BTW, Remember the US bombing a baby food factory? Well that factory was producing anthrax and other biological agents. The food was not for feeding babies, it was being used for production of agents. My ex, his crew, and the lab, were in quarantine for a couple weeks after that flight.

What gets me, is that we have all this monitoring infrastructure, but the way the US found out about Chernobyl, was from a CNN report. CNN has a better spy network then we do.

Let me know the title, or author, if you remember it.

I'm a big science fiction fan an may favorite author for the last 47 years was Robert A. Heinlein.

In one of his collections he writes about visiting the USSR. I would say the time frame was well within the coldwar era. He and his wife, Virginia, both former Navy officers, did a lot of recon without showing it. It wasn't espionage, as he published his findings in a general magazine. One of the things they got by small talk was the population. Of the USSR was much lower than advertised. And not just because of Stalin's purges before his death, but they'd never really recovered from WWII. When your citizens are nothing more than cannon fodder, it happens. Even survivors may not be all there.

During their visit, the Soviets did a space launch. They were bragging about how the glorious, blah blah blah, etc. You know the blowhards that never do anything but take credit if their team wins. Bob and Ginnie filed it away, but then when they asked about it the day of the launch, they were bamboozled at every turn. IIRC they were even pulled in for questioning and debriefing. It never happened. The Heinlein's suspected what happened, and it was confirmed that capsule exploded. They didn't get that tidbit until after they got home.

CNN breaking the Chernobyl story? I'm sure there were plenty of people in the Pentagon that knew, but didn't want to risk our spy network being exposed.

I once had a locksmith tell me that "Locks are only there, to keep honest people, honest."

The rain it rainth everyday,
upon the just and unjust fella.
But more upon the just,
because the unjust hath the justs' umbrella.
