I moved to the middle of the country from the west coast and met a kid who moved from Maine. Before then I had never had a fluffernutter, the weed I'd had before but not that lmao!

I've seen people use syrup also, I personally prefer home made strawberry jam, I just thought fluffernutter sounds funny and reminds me of my youth lol.
