That's just the way I hear it in my brain. We used to call our dog "bohj" and spelled it boge.. no idea how other people pronounce it..

Lol. That's the other thing about trying to get the correct pronunciation, we have to type, no one hears anyone's voice, and like you just mentioned, life experiences are a factor of pronunciation, too! Just like how you pronounced the name of your dog! I just hope that I conveyed my thoughts correctly to where anyone who may read this would understand me. Lol :)

Remember, there's some lazy ass college professor who decides the spelling of things, but a lot of the English vocabulary has been around and well documented by the British, and they love throwing useless letters in words, (ex.(US) Color (GB) Colour). Humor/Humour.
