You all probably know this by now, but I'm very liberal when it comes to politics, and no I have not rioted or done anything bad to anyone who voted for Trump (I actually made a meme about it here, the title says it all: ). Seriously Imgflippers stop with this generalizing idea (I know it is everyone's 1st amendment right to say what they believe in but there is a line you cross and it makes you just look like an @ss) and thinking we all are like that, we are extremely divided, much more that conservative to be honest, which kind of explains why we have Trump as president now.
Alright, now let me talk about this whole #Calexit idea, because sure enough I find it to be extremely ridiculous... I think the best bet we have if you are a sane liberal like me, the best option would be to suck it up and just learn to deal with Trump (I personally still don't like him and probably never will), who knows, he could have very important people selected for his cabinet. I've lived my whole life here in this golden state and I would be ashamed to see Californians to resort to such acts. If US history has taught me anything, we never left the Union when we were a state during the Civil War (I mean other states did but that's none of our concern for this meme), so if you feel like it's the end of the world (trust me I still kind of do) just remember that orange man (I really think he's part fruit) of a President we have, doesn't necessary mean your views have to change as a person, but rather pushes you to pursue those dreams and goals much more. Also one last thing, here's a quote by Abraham Lincoln to lighten up the mood.
I voted for Bush the first time because he seemed to do well with education when I lived in Texas. By the time he came up for re-election I wanted him out and couldn't stomach the thought of him being in office another four years. I voted him for the single reason of how he was going to handle troop drawn downs in the middle east. If Kerry would have said anything other than an immediate pull out (that's what she said?) he would have got my vote. I'm still not happy with what he did in his second term, and it turns out the way he handled the middle east wasn't a good plan anyway.
The quote from Band of Brothers "salute the uniform, not the man" extends to a Trump presidency. I don't feel he's the right person to lead the country, but once he takes office, I'd still be honored to meet him as a sitting president. He's talked about term limits, which is an important issue I think he could potentially get through since both the House and Senate are republican controlled. Just not sure how those long time/lifelong politicians will feel about voting themselves out of a job next time their term is up.
I'm sure plenty of Republicans thought the world was going to end when Obama took office, that didn't happen.
We owe it to him to give him a chance. If things go horribly awry in the next few years, things will probably sway back to democrats.
If you don't want to hear read my long rant or whatever you want to call it, here is a link to a news article about it: https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/2179849/renegade-states-plan-to-pull-off-their-own-brexit-and-ditch-the-us-for-canada/
California is only viable because of all the Federal money pouring into it. Without the Military bases defense contractors, highway money, welfare money, food stamps, section 8 housing,et al, it would go belly up in less then a year. The Naval Base in San Diego is the largest employer in the state. With that gone and the money it generates and distributes the state would wither and die.
I was young and really didn't care about politics when Bush and Obama became presidents. Anyone who saw Bush and Obama's elections at the time can tell me how much riot was there compared to Trump's election? Did it go as far as saying US States should split from the union or something close to it?
A lot, the country is torn apart and it's dumb that violence is the easiest way to get you heard... and I think that's a first for the USA, but Texas has always had the feeling to leave just because they are Texas!
