Just wanted to tell you that dog you have in that image is a famous celebrity called Crusoe, I've liked his Facebook page.

They are just gorgeous. What are they like? Temperment? Ease (or not) to care for?

Well, they bark at everything they hear. They are caring dogs and nice lap dogs. They are stubborn and require lot of training. Overall, I would give a Dachshund care rate of about 7/10 (The higher the number the harder it is to care for them). That's just my personal opinion if you are looking into getting one.
