I have a bad habit of ending conversations with I love you. It happens way more than I would like to admit! My customers at work are so accustomed to it a few of them tell me the love me too!

I've actually done what a friend suggested. You answer the phone by saying loudly, "89 KOOL FM! You're on the air." There's usually a pause, and then they say, "Hello?" To which I reply, "You're on the air, sir. You've got 30 seconds. What's on your mind?" Then they hang up fast.

My older son had heart surgery when he was little. If any organization called asking for donations I would tell them our son had heart surgery and that things were tight. That would end the phone call rather quickly. I used that one for a looong time afterwards. :)

Sounds like us. My son had Bacterial meningitis when he was 11. We spent a little over a week in a quarantined hospital room with him. He had spinal tap after spinal tap done, and the doctors gave us a 25% chance that he would live. By the grace of God he made it! He will be 16 in February. I still tell some people when they call that my son has been in the hospital, I'm not lying LOL as long as they don't ask me the date. ;-)

That had to have been the longest, scariest, emotional week of your life. :( So glad he pulled through. I remember thinking all I can do is pray during my son's surgery because so much could've gone wrong. Technically he had a myocardial infarction which is a narrowing of the aortic artery which supplies blood to most of the body. It's just hard to explain it to everyone. :) His third grade gym teacher said he was having trouble running laps. She had been a nurse and suspected something was not right. Sure enough the doctor heard a heart murmur and further tests revealed the problem. What is so weird is that this is a fairly common birth defect and it is usually caught early. A doctor had heard a heart murmur when he was an infant. A simple blood pressure check at the ankles would have caught it right away. Since he was older than most patients for the pediatric surgeon, he asked if he could video tape the surgery. What often accompanies this birth defect is a bicuspid valve where there should be a tri-cuspid valve. Which means it could wear out sooner and he may need it replaced when he is around 40. I'm just so glad he had an awesome gym teacher. I think that was a miracle too. :)

So glad your little guy's issue was found as well! Sometimes people (like his gym teacher) are placed in our lives for reasons we don't see until later! I have a friend who's son was diagnosed in the womb with an infarction sadly his turned out to be HLHS the left side of his heart didn't develop. He was a beautiful baby, unfortunately he was only with her for 6 months before he passed away. She does raise awareness fundraisers etc in his honor on his birthday now.
