Yes if you get a few downvotes before it gets a few upvotes. Usually two downvotes before any upvotes will unfeature it.

fascinating.. i've got mememies.. do downvotes lower your score, too? or just push your memes down (and/or out)?

Downvotes will lower a user's score, but you would need a lot of downvotes to make a difference. And if your meme gets 2 downvotes and no upvotes, it goes back to submitted. There was actually an upvote/downvote bar that you could actually see, but sometime last December they did away with that, but the downvotes do still work. The easiest way to see this is when a bad troll comment gets downvoted and it hides the comment.

and thanks for the above response.. i guess i don't really know if the morpheus meme ever temporarily featured, but it might've.. and it was definitely constructed from the default template.. this was around the time a certain [deleted] user kept responding to my comments in an, er, combative way...

No problem.

The order on latest never changes but I'm not sure the effect on points or position on the hot pages. Once I saw a user with negative points, I am thinking they got tons of downvotes I suspect.

i appreciate all the info.. and now, an experiment (not just a "please upvote my meme" ploy)... this one's been submission purgatory from the beginning.. it's not incredibly funny, but it's not the worst meme ever:

And to answer your question here, if the meme was never featured in the first place and is never featured, no ammount of upvotes and comments can bring it out of submission. Therecould be a few reasons the meme doesn't feature, one of which is the watermarks from other sites. Sometimes a template taken from Google search has a watermark that does not comply with the rules of Imgflip and so will not feature.

i upvoted it, but you probably need a few friends to also upvote it.

It'll be on established template, so unless the mods are being idiots it'll post at the right time.
