With this jerk leading the then-minority and a new president who felt the need to try to cooperate even though he didn't need to, Obama let incremental change prevail when he shouldn't have. Not to mention two crucial turn coat Dems (Nelson and Lieberman) from Nebraska and Connecticut who couldn't reach in their pants and find any balls to vote against their home state insurance industries. Don't forget this was back in the days of death panels and Kenyan cicizenship. The GOP was willing to try to burn the country to the ground because there was a black man in the white house and they didn't want to be told what to do by a black man.

You sound suspicious of what I said. Makes it sound even more factual. Before Obama was elected no president had been asked for a birth certificate but they had all released their taxes. Back to the original question I'm not a birther. I didn't question it until the "fired" Clinton aid did. I had assumed proper vetting had been done long before. It was only his tight lipped reaction to it that gave the story any traction. I'm 50+ as well and learned not to trust ANY career politician. I know Obama can do no wrong and everyone hates him because he is black and not his ineptness. I've read it all here before.

Tight lipped reaction to someone committed to twisting your words? Yeah how strange. If by original question you mean where is the progressive agenda when it comes to doing social good? Look at the US after WWII. We had high tax rates applied progressively (more on the rich than the poor) and we experienced the largest peace time expansion in the history of the modern world. But we forgot our own historyand started giving bigger tax breaks to rich people and large corporations than we do to middle class workers and small business owners. Bill Maher had a good piece about California's recent boom under progressive governance. And he's the evil rich guy getting taxed but still sang it's praise. Austerity contracts economies. Historical fact.

Any unethical ties on either side should be cut and should never have been undertaken I agree. But the question was about the agenda and not the individuals who claim to represent that agenda. The examples I put forth are empirical.

Which question? The one about democrat ran communities not improving as stated in the original meme or the one I posed about how hard they scrambled to make life better for everyone when they had their window of opportunity? If all you progressives would just go ahead and select the option to pay more on your tax forms and I see something positive happen, I might join in. Until then I'm not willing to give an extra cent to a government that asks for trillions to finance shovel ready jobs that "weren't so shovel ready" and ended up financing shrimps on treadmills and defunct solar panel factories.

The original meme about the people being help by the democratic agenda. What we had after WWII and what is going on in California are good examples of the progressive agenda paying dividends to society.

Exactly! Scalia practically tried to turn the Court cases his way during his position in the Supreme Court. And now, the Conservative Congress members are preventing Obama from choosing a liberal Supreme Court Justice, which is just absurd! =/

Courier is right. Congress isn't obligated to choose a Justice. They can reject any applicant put forth by the President.
