I should have been clearer. Imgflip used to show a graph of up and down votes. I also liked it because It gave me an idea of how many disliked what I had done and made me think how I could do it better.

What a coincidence that I found this meme here. I just decided to check out some other people's submissions because the latest pages were boring, save for a few. I'm happy if any of my memes make it to the hot pages. And I'm sure they get downvotes, especially the ones that fizzle and die. That's visual enough for me. :)

Imgur has the up and down vote buttons, and your score reflects it. I had a post removed to the backpage because it showed I had a negative 20. Checked the votes, and sure enough, 1335 upvotes vs 1355 down votes.

Then, you piss off someone, like post a political opinion opposite of their belief, and they go to your account and start downvoting everything you've ever posted.

It sounds like they have a way to vote multiple times? I have/have had some trolls that have done that to me, but thankfully not with enough votes to have my submissions tank completely. Enough good people I guess checked my submissions and kept me afloat when I was really active. Since I've been more erratic with submissions I haven't had that luxury, but again it appears my trolls gave up too. It is interesting feedback to me to know how many didn't like as well as how many liked what I've done. Imgflip does work the same way with the up and down votes, we just don't see how many downvotes we get.

By hiding them, I suppose that gives a positive impression of the site. Trolls? Best you can do is flag them. Don't know how well ImgFlip polices it. I've come across a couple cyber bullies, but don't seem to care.

Yep, there has never been enough to lose sleep over, that's one of the best things about this site. Yeah keeping it positive is probably good. I may not want to REALLY know how many downvotes I get :)

I rarely use the downvote button, but I just saw the type of meme you are referring to.

I never downvote anyone putting in a real effort. Its the ones using offensive terms because they are still juvenile enough to giggle when they see them.

The trouble is that if they get a kick out of rude words etc, they'd probably get a kick out of seeing the downvote count get higher too.
