I can't help but suspect that many parents sign their kids up for little league for the same reason they sign them up for camp, which is just to get them out of their hair for as much of the summer as possible. So if that's the case, then I don't see them thanking you or anyone else because it was basically a selfish ploy on their part. Sorry, Mommy. I hope I'm wrong, but it's highly probable

Honestly, I decided to coach to give back to my community, pretty much my only reason.

Lucky you're not coaching hockey up in Canada, you'd have parents all up in your face everyday telling you how to coach their future first rounder. Hockey parents is a huge problem up here, and no thanks. So bad here on legue just fired a coaching staff AFTER two winning seasons and a championship, figure that out.

Yeah- grew up in a hockey family. It is big business here too. My kids don't play... Thank god.

I loved the phrases, "puck off," "take it out & play with it;" I know there are more.

I hear you, I coached basketball (all levels HS on down) for the last 20 years. At least you still got one.

My husband coaches competitive soccer and he gets gifts. :(

Biggest complaint: playing time.
