Futurama Fry Meme | NOT SURE WHY MORE PEOPLE HAVE NOT NOTICED THIS? | image tagged in memes, futurama fry | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
This is why we don't have cable TV... Mainstream media is destroying family values... And why is every kids sitcom full of the children lying to the parents?!

Maybe it wasn't intentional when it started, but when certain types realized the power they had with media -- | ONE DOES NOT SIMPLY MANIPULATE THE MASSES WITHOUT INFLUENCING MEN, WOMEN, AND CHILDREN TO DISRESPECT AND DISREGARD EACH OTHER | image tagged in memes, one does not simply | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
It's not either or, they've been influencing people to disrespect both sexes for decades. And have been very successful.

Well, I posted a rant on one of the recent-ish things here: imgflip.com/i/18iqc0 . It's on abortion and BLM, so....may or may not care, but thought it fit and it needed sharing :P

You see part of the picture, for sure. Now watch the commercials. If you are white, you are the fumbling one. It's the black person or other person of color giving the white person advice or a reason to buy a product. Also note the mixed couples. Many commercials show a black and white couple, usually with the man being black. The white male is under attack from all angles.

The only mixed couple promoted by the mainstream medias is always ''the black male and the white female

Why do you think that is? Could it be because they're tiptoing around the white slave owner idea? Or is it because American society is more comfortable with a white woman with a black sig other than the all-powerful white male with a black female?

You forget The Jeffersons, which, IIRC, was the first program to feature an interracial couple as regular characters.

Very true. It's difficult to think of that many examples of a TV show where the Dad is a competent, smart, loving guy. :(

It's in all the TV commercials as well.

Like Cosby?.... But seriously, with the number of deadbeat dad's out there, I'm surprised they're showing dad's at all on TV shows....

Yeah, Leave It To Beaver, Father Knows Best, and, of course, The Brady Bunch are in the past.

The most recent program that comes to mind is a cartoon called Ben 10. The main character is represented as an impetuous kid, but the adults, for the most part, ate handled as adults.

We haven't had TV reception in over 15 years. No cell service out here either. The closest town is 42 miles away and is a lot like Mayberry.

No T.V. Or cell service. But we do have internet by Satellite. Too slow for streaming, but memeing seems to work fine.

Follow the money. Television exists for advertising and ad execs know who to target. If it isn't beer, trucks or some other form of male enhancement, they don't need our attention.

Yes, but if you recall the first episode when Jesse and Joey had to change Michelle's diaper, it was a throwback to the men can't do simple tasks.

Jesse had been an uncle for a decade and never changed a diaper??? I was an uncle less than a week, and changed my first diaper. I was only 12 at the time.

My apologies. I did say good hearted men though, not a group of super father figures. I think it's great you stepped up to the plate as an uncle and father. We need more dad's and uncles playing important roles in our kids lives like you.

For the record, those good hearted men evolved in great father figures as the shoe progressed. It was only the first episode where they were portrayed as dunderheads.

As for stepping up to the plate, after my folks divorced, the father figures in my life, well, left a lot to be desired. I winged it from shows like Father Knows Best and Leave It To Beaver.

They've been doing this since the early 90's in both tv commercials and sitcoms. A big example(s): Everybody Loves Raymond and the King of Queens. The men in those shows are bumbling idiots, while all the women's problems are a direct link to their husbands.

Does it matter if children are brought up well, to understand TV isn't real life, and they have Father Figures in their lives who are good role models?

I tried that with my step daughter... Ultimately Facebook, Instagram and snap chat beat out reality. She opted to move in with the dead beat dad she's hated for the past 16 years... Sad.

The good news is that some kids do grow out up enjoying their father figures. My step daughter refuses anything to do with her bio dad or even Amy of her half sibs. Has never even met them, and, even though we argue, I'm still her Superman. My grandkids love me, though two of their dads ate deadbeats. (Stepdaughters boys and bio daughters girls. Son understands fatherhood even better than me)

Do I have some special skill? Damned if I know. Just being there when they needed me.
