The meme is tragic :( And I failed to mention that in my first comment. How can someone who has working hands and arms type those words? The real story about her inner strength, and how her family cares for her is inspirational. I hope the family gets the answers and the help they need.

I didn't know it was based on a real story... wow, that makes it darker.

I linked it because I think that's another element of what makes a meme "dank" - to purposely deal with distasteful topics in a flippant way.

I don't think "dank" is merely synonymous with "overused" - I think it's more specific than that. Hard to pinpoint it, though.

Dank is also a word used in the pot smoking community to mean really good weed. I've always considered a positive thing when people have told me I have dank memes....

I read about that too. I wanted to have fun with the word since both meanings had a lot of upvotes at the Urban Dictionary website. :)
