That's pretty much what the Allies did to the Central Powers after WWI, and what happened in Eastern Europe after WWII Iraq in 2003. The result: some of the worst political, military, and social disasters in the history of the world.
I Germany, the Germans felt like they had been wronged. That desire for revenge was used by Hilter to become dictator of Germany. The Holocaust, WWII, nuclear weapons, any of that ring any bells. The same thing happened to Eastern Europe at the end of WWII and caused the rise of the Soviet Union. That's what happens when you kick ass and walk away like it's not your problem.
Iraq is still going on almost 15 years after it turned into a shitstorm, and that's because we kicked a bee hive and created a power vacuum. That power vacuum led to the rise of terrorist groups like ISIS, so the policy you want us to use on ISIS is actually the EXACT SAME THING THAT LED TO THE CREATION OF ISIS!
It's not a simple problem at all! There is a short term solution to ISIS, but you may remember that ISIS succeeded the Taliban and Al Qaeda as the world's biggest terrorist group. ISIS was the "next Al Qaeda" so who's going to be the "next ISIS"? Smothering a fire with pine needles and sticks may put it out, but what happens when THEY catch fire from any lingering embers?
