Yes there are bad memes there, but there are great ones too that don't get enough views, comments and votes to move up.

Not necessarily. There have been plenty on the front page with less comments and votes than what are on later pages.

That's why it's called the "hot" pages and not the most upvotes pages. It's all about how much attention the meme is getting in a certain amount of time that makes it "hot." I have a lot of memes I call slow movers, they may end up with more views, upvotes, or comments than one that makes the front page. But they get them slowly and aren't considered hot. The amount of time it takes to receive those three things determine how "hot" the meme is.

Also, a number of memes on later pages with a lot of comments and upvotes are ones coming back down from having been on the front page.

I know what you are saying. That is due to timing of the votes and comments. There seems to be an algorithm to it, upvotes, comments and views per hour. I've seen them drop almost as fast as they hit the front page once they turned "colder" than others. This usually happens to those that get a lot of comments but not much of the other 2. I had one sit once on the bottom of page one for 24 hours, no moving up, no moving down, I laughed every time I saw it. Anyway that's from my observations, others may disagree and offer another theory that might be better.

I'm a "scroller-upvoter" kind of person. :D I like to visit the Latest pages and upvote memes that give me an initial knee-jerk reaction. Which ends up being quite a few upvotes.

Ditto, although time limits me lately as to how much I can do. Of course I always want to comment on the ones I'd like to see do well too.

I need to comment more. There's a lot of good quick-witted people here.

Its good practice and many is the time I have gotten good memes from coming up with comments. In which case I'll usually post a different comment and go make that meme right away :)

Ahh. Those suck. But you go to their comments on reddit but they can't meme comment. And their comments seem more bitchier.

A couple days ago there was at least 20 memes about "r/the_donald". I have no idea what that is. And Reddit is confusing af to me, I've never used it.

If you gathered all the lowest-quality content from the internet all in one place, that would be Reddit.

I started there last year, made my way here, and never left. I still have my acct, same user name, but yeah, confusing af, hard to navigate. Here is simple, scroll, vote , comment. I just learned something new too, i think, you can meme comment as much as you want without waiting, but as soon as you text comment, you gotta wait 116 seconds n such.
